DREADLOCK TWO-STRAND TWISTS & TWIST-OUTS | Curly Locs

It's time to add some body to our dreadlocks this week using the good ole two-strand twist method.

This takes about 1.5 hours to install and take down.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1. Yourself
2. Your Hair
3. Water (in a spray bottle)
4. Rubber Bands

DIRECTIONS:
1. Wet the area of locs you will be working with.
2. Decided how many locs you will have in each twist. (I did two locs per strand, so four locs per twist. You can do more or less depending on how loose or tight you want the curl to be.)
3. Twist the strands (locs) the same direction you retwist your locs. Then twist those strands the opposite direction to keep a defined twist. This will help your hair remain in the twist. (If you want your hair in twists, then you are already done! Continue to Step 4. if you want the twist-out look.)
4. Let your hair dry completely. (I recommend wearing the two-strand twists out for at least three days.)
5. Separate the twists carefully.

TIPS:
1. Make sure to sleep in a satin/silk scarf around your hair or sleep on a satin pillow case. This helps preserve your hair's natural oils and also help retain your curls.
2. Use a little oil on your hands while separating your twists to help moisturize your locs if you haven't been doing that while they were in the twists.
3. It's better for your hair to be very damp than not wet at all. As your hair dries, your locs will take to the curl pattern in the two-strand twists. The longer you keep your locs twisted, the longer they will stay curling afterwards.

Loc Maintenance Tutorial || How I Re-Twist My Locs

The purpose of this video is to show how I maintain my hair from start to finish. Wash and Retwist. This has literally saved me thousands of dollars over the years by learning to keep up my own locs.

HOW TO Box Braids / Faux Locs & Twists on Natural Hair // Samantha Pollack

Today my sister is going to show you how to Box Braid, Senegalese twist and Faux Loc with extensions on natural hair. Now that I'm in my final year of university and I'm way too busy with my final project, I'm trying to do more protective styles. Hoping to keep this up untill the summer. I did this style on 80% damped hair. My sister finds it better to braid/twist on damped hair. However you choose to braid/twist your hair, you still have to be gentle with your hair. It took us 7 hours to complete this hairstyle.
I've used 8 packs to achieve this hairstyle. The hair i've used is by African collection Jumbo braid in colors: 33, M1B/33, 6 and M1B/BG. I've used:
4 packs in the color 33
2 packs in the color M1B/33
2 packs in the color 6
2 packs in the color M1B/BG

Starter Locs/ Dread Locs Using Flax Seed Gel

I make and use my own flax seed gel for twists, coils, curls, starter locs and loc retwists on all my clients. Here, with this client I am starting her dread locs wth a combination of two stand twists and curls. I used about a 1/2 cup worth of Flax seed gel to complete this style.

I added a few drops of Habesha Naturals' Hair Growth Moisturizer and Hot Oil Treatment to the flax seed mixture, this combo acts as a moisturizer, sealant and hold for styling. It took about 3 hours to complete.
